NBA Jams to Game Boy Advance

Acclaim officially announces that the company will bring its over-the-top basketball series to GBA.

    October 9, 2001

The classic two-on-two basketball series established by Midway and popularized by Acclaim is making a return to the scene, as Acclaim will be bringing NBA Jam 2002 to the Game Boy Advance this holiday season.
The company has struggled with the game on the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, but with the power of the GBA backing the classic gameplay, we have high-hopes for this portable rendition.

The game is in development at DC Studios (the same folks behind the better-than-expected Army Men Advance). Check out the features list:

Official NBA licensed product, including all 29 teams and courts
    More than 140 NBA superstars
Traditional NBA JAM 2-on-2 arcade action
Two new "Jam-style" courts, including Beach and Street Jam
Return of Fun Mode, with player Hotspots, Hangtime, Half Court Superdunks and On Fire
Signature and special player moves, including alley-oops, sky hooks and off-the-glass passes
Various modes of play, such as Practice, Season, Playoffs, Jam Style, Head-to-Head and the all-new "Horse" mode
Unlock secret teams, such as the NBA Rookie Team, East and West All-Star Teams, and the All-NBA Team
Tons of hidden cheat codes and surprises.
The one thing we're a little worried about -- no mention of link cable play (although Head-to-Head is mentioned as a feature). Hopefully the developers can work linking into the design before release. We'll have screenshots of the game in action shortly. Look for the release of NBA Jam 2002 by this Christmas.
