    HEATH-SMITHs ANNOUNCES CIRCLE STUDIOS

Core Design co-founders Jeremy Heath-Smith and Adrian Smith have announced the formation of a brand new studio based in Derby called Circle Studios, entertainment magazine IGN reports this morning. A further 35 former employees of Core Design have joined Circle Studio and are negotiating two brand new titles for next generation platforms.

Commenting on the new studio, Smith told IGN: "It's very exciting to be standing on our own two feet again and we're fortunate to be in a position that allows us to develop our prototypes fully whilst exploring the best route or partnership for publishing."

Circle Studios can be found at www.circle-studio.com and we will be following their developments with a keen eye and whole heartedly wish the company much success.

    Ultimissime conferme !

The Smith brothers have formed a new game developing company called Circle Studio.

Core Design founders of the 32 million dollar Tomb Raider Series from 1996-2003

Jeremy-Heath-Smith and Adrian resigned from Core & Eidos not long after the release of

Angel of Darkness following the less than kind reviews from gaming reviewers.

Now the next Tomb Raider game is in the hands of Developer Crystal Dynamics in U.S.A.

Core Design is still in Derby U.K. working in some capacity for Eidos Interactive.

Circle Studio will also be in Derby U.K. with a developing team of 35 former Core Employees.

Circle Studio though they have no publisher as yet they are currently developing two new titles for

And look forward to developing new games for next generation gaming consoles.

The Smith brothers in the new company have kept the same titles as they did for Core Design

Adrian as developing director and Jeremy as managing director. If they can spin the magic

They did for Tomb Raider in their new titles the future for the Smith brothers will be bright.

Heath Smith said in a statement issued this morning: "'Adrian and I are still passionate about games and have the experience and skills in-house to continue producing original and successful titles".

The team has confirmed it has begun prototyping two titles for release on Xbox and PS2, and is also "preparing" for titles for eventual release on Sony and Microsoft's next consoles, but notably not Nintendo's.

Smith commented: "It's very exciting to be standing on our own two feet again and we're fortunate to be in a position that allows us to develop our prototypes fully whilst exploring the best route or partnership for publishing." This time, though, the pair might prefer to maintain independence and not sell their interests to their publisher. Ultimately, the problems surrounding last year's critically derided Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness lead to Heath-Smith's resignation from the Eidos board, and the franchise being dramatically transferred to US developer Crystal Dynamics - no doubt a humbling and embarrassing experience.
